MENTAL & EMOTIONAL WELLNESS

Adejare A. McMillan, MS,
PhD Candidate

Mental & Emotional

So, here’s the thing…

I know quite well what it means to struggle. I wasn’t always the person you see and I went through a few things to have gotten this far. Today, I’m a Ph.D. candidate at Nova Southeastern University, writer, and published author in addition to being an advocate and practitioner as “The Transformative Justice Therapist”. Having persevered through many of life’s challenges, I not only found my voice through writing, but in my educational aspirations I discovered a fervent desire for helping others in need of finding their voice and holding onto hope. I utilize clinical approaches with adolescents and adults like Narrative, Existential, and Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, along with non-clinical techniques like Transformative Justice Practices to guide clients closer to wellness and where they desire to be.

My primary therapeutic focal points are Substance Misuse, Restorative Justice, Sexuality, and Men’s Issues. As the product of a single-parent household, a Caribbean upbringing, and being the child of an incarcerated parent, not only do I have clinical experience, but I have personal experience managing life stressors and some of the challenges that cause us to be mentally and emotionally unwell. Beyond working primarily with adolescents and families, I have experience with anger management challenges, internal, organizational, and family conflicts. When I’m not working you can catch me cooking, writing poetry, working on my next book, or humming R&B songs while studying for school. I’ve worked to possess the fundamental necessities of a therapist while retaining a personal style you won’t find anywhere else. I do my best to keep things light enough for you to talk about anything, and intellectual enough to provide understanding, insight, and learning along the way.

Kristin Scanlon, LMFT

Mental & Emotional

I’m a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. I graduated from Nova Southeastern University receiving a Masters in Family Therapy with a focus in Family Systems Healthcare/Medical Family Therapy. I’ve worked in various settings such as crisis stabilization, substance use, the school system, the prison system, and child welfare. I now primarily work in the foster care system specializing in trauma and abuse in children and adolescents, child welfare, adoption, and transitions.

My preferred therapeutic approach is narrative therapy, though it varies from case to case. Just as each client differs, I utilize interventions from various modalities to best fit the client’s individual needs–a “create your own pizza” approach per say.  Throughout the course of therapy, we collaboratively create a new narrative, a story in which change is attainable and life can look different. I believe in healing broken relationships and empowering people to create healthy changes.

When I’m not at work, you can find me taking naps, going to the beach (maybe even napping at the beach), going to Disney World, watching Netflix,  reading memoirs, baking (or trying to), and spending time with my friends.

joset rosado, lisw-cp, s

Mental & Emotional

Joset works with the messiness to help bring wellness to complicated relationships with yourself and with others. People are her JAM! She loves working with teachers and school board personnel as a former school social worker. She has a special place in her heart for others who serve our commUNITY’s most vulnerable population, our children.

Joset, has a passion for bridging the gap in services by working with those who have migrated to the US by providing immigration evaluations. She loves her culture and her language and infuses her bold personality and bilingual skillset of English and Spanish into everything she does!

She is a firm believer in resources over rescuing. She KNOWS the resilient nature of people and partners with them in their healing, not trying to fix them but giving them more tools for their toolbox.
